(Update 22 October ) We have already helped 22 students in need to reduce their financial problems so they can concentrate on their study. This would not have been possible without your heartwarming donations. On behalf of these students, thank you very much!

(Update 21 April) We'll go on! The initial fundraising goal for the emergency fund has been reached, thanks to your many heartwarming donations. But the crowdfunding will continue and your donation is still very welcome. At the moment we are busy preparing the application procedure and investigating what these students need. We strive to help as many students in need as possible on a short term, and still need your support to make that possible. Thank you!

We are all experiencing on a daily basis the consequences of the quickly spreading coronavirus. This is a time of great uncertainty, also for Wageningen students. The university is doing its absolute best to help them through these tough times. Nonetheless, there are still students who were already facing difficulties and now require extra support. They have to delay their studies and find themselves in acute financial need because of ceasing income.

A small financial contribution can go a very long way for these students. University Fund Wageningen has therefore set up an emergency fund which, with your support, can ensure that everyone can continue their studies safely and securely. The WUR mission is ‘to connect for quality of life’ and that has perhaps never been more relevant!

Please help and make a donation today. If we all give a little, together we can make an enormous difference in students’ lives.

University Fund Wageningen and WUR will jointly ensure that your contribution is used where it matters most.

This student was helped thanks to you!

Thanks to your donation and all other heartwarming donations, we have already helped 22 students who found themselves in financial need due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. And applications are still coming in! We would like to share this response of a student that we have helped thanks to you. "As the corona outbreak developed and I was forcefully sent back to my home country I encountered one of my biggest obstacles in my academic life. Amidst the quarantine returning back to Wageningen for the next year seemed unattainable. As time went by more difficulties appeared on the horizon. From my mother being layed off to personal and economic issues in my family, things were layering up into a mentally devastating cycle. I must say that I thought about quitting studying several nights before going to sleep. Besides, the most frustrating aspect about me considering giving up on my academic career was fuelled not by a lack of passion but by technical/economic issues. Things were pretty rough I must say. I remember one day scrolling down the MyPortal WURnews widget and seeing an announcement for an emergency fund that students could apply to. I honestly didn’t believe I could receive a scholarship. Luckily, I was fortunate to be granted an emergency fund that allows me to continue my studies. This emergency fund, in a time where I was desperate and anxious, felt like a major step in my student life. It is both my safety net and stepping-stone to go back to Wageningen and believe me I couldn’t be more grateful for it." - Student MSc Forest and Nature Conservation

When the restaurant in which I had a side-job closed, I got in trouble. I considered giving up my room and moving back to Peru, but my country was also closed for me. Because of the financial contribution from the Emergengy Fund I don't have to worry about my sustenance the upcoming months, and I got air again to think about my thesis instead."   "Everyone in this world gets impacts due to covid-19 outbreak. When corona measures were implemented in The Netherlands, I was in the situation when I already had a research proposal and planned to go to Indonesia for the next month. Otherwise, it was cancelled and I needed to adopt my research methods on online ways. My supervisor and I tried to look for other alternatives to conduct the fieldwork without going back to my country Indonesia. It took two months to find a new research topic and new method. As an international student with a scholarship from my country, there is a contract between my sponsorship and I. The contract will end at 31 august 2020, but I will need an extension. I was so worried and scared how to cover my living cost during the extension period. Fortunately, Student DEAN and my Study Advisor helped me to apply financial aid to Emergency Fund Wageningen. Then now I get the grant to help me to survive to graduate in this university. I am so grateful and thankful to Donors who play an important role to help students like me. I promise to utilise this fund wisely and make it a motivation to finish my study on time. Thank you very much! " R H from Indonesia
